Rock On...

We're just about finished with our rock on project, right now we're working on our shirts and poster board. I've never had so much fun doing a school related project. It was more hands on than I thought it would be or easy. There was a lot of things that I thought would work ion this didn't. For eaxample, the merch designs, I now know some things that look in a picture or drawing doesn't always look good on a shirt or hoodie. We incorperated the 4p's of marketing with the pricing of tickets, and how we promoted it. We tried to make sure we kept our "fan's" bugdet in mind.
I took the pricing of the tickets very serious. I personally go to concerts a lot, at one point I went to one every week. Part if the reason I could do that is because of the ticket prices. Also most of the artist I go see aren't at Jay-Z or Rolling Stone satus and neither is The Chrome Note. At least not in the U.S, in France it might be a little different.
The way I see the artist that promote/market themselves to me, I took a page out of their book, and made it cool looking but inviting.

It Was That Fun Huh?

I actually had a good Spring Break. Usually it's not too memorable, but this one was. I relaxed the first couple of days and caught up with my soap operas. (yea I said it, soap operas) I didn't have to work during the week and i'm glad I didn't, that would have really sucked. Thursday morining my friends and I set off on our mini road trip to Austin for SXSW. Let me say this: I've never had so much fun in my life. (thats a bit of a exageration) But I really did have fun, there was a free concert going on but a few of us didn't get in. We met up with our friend that attends UT and hung out for a little bit. It was extremely hot and needless to say I almost died out there, but I had fun doing that too. LOL For the remainder of the day we just walked around and found interesting place to go see in Downtown Austin. We ate and ate, and just hung out. We stopped by this bar to see a few indie bands play and you know what? They were actually pretty good. Around 7:30 we decided to head back home, the ridwe to and from Austin was brutal, but in a good way. We got to see the country and aprciate Texas country landscape. That was my break, next stop,The Bamboozle in East Ruthford, New Jersey.

Wacky Inflatable Tube Man! Wacky Inflatable Tube Man! Wacky Inflatable Tube Man!

Ads are designed to catch our attention and make us buy the company's product. Some are good and some are just down right terrible. Now, there's a lot more funny commecials that combine the 4 P's and make us beleive that we just have to have their product. Like this one for instance:

It's geared toward the extreme gamer or the 'just want it' gamer. This add saids a lot of things. Like i'm the more futureistic gaming console, you must buy me! I mane i'd buy it.

I Forgot What This Post Was About..............

Oh, so yea this blog was supposed to be about the seven key functions that we have learned about. Anyway, the seven key functions are Selling, Distribution, Promotion, Pricing, Financing, Product/Service Management, Marketing Information Management. These correspond with each other because first when you need to say, sell a product you need to know who are you going to sell it to.(product/service management) How are you going to market you product so a group of people will buy it? Are your plans to promote it affective? (promotion/marketing information management) When you have all that figured out, the most important thing still has to be sorted out. How much are are you going to charge for your product/service? Is the group of people you're marketing to going to be able to afford you product? When you are starting up any new product or service, these are the most important things you need to consider.

My Favorite Superbowl Comercial

Aww jeez, there was a tone of superbowl comecials that I liked so it's hard to just pick one. So i'm going to pick three. The comercial the stuck out most to me was the Pepsi New Anthem comercial:

Because I know who Bob Dylan is thanks to my dad I see what connection the were making between then and now.
The other two is this one:

Babies are just awsome.

And this one:

What was that?

My group and I just participated in some kind of "experiment". I required that we transport sat and water using only a paper bag, straw, napkin and a plastic spoon. So how we made it work. (Justin did most of the work) I would have been to hectic having every group member up there. (even thought that's what the majority of the groups did) It was cool I guess we didn't win but it was fun.

There's No "I" In Team....

Today we were told to read all of the students blogs and choose someone as your teammate according to their blogs. I think I chose a good teammate, he seems quiet but I think he's going to be a hard worker. I excited to see what we will be doing for the next four months in this class. i think it ought to be fun. We are still waiting on an incoming team remember, I'll be sure to update this blogger when I meet him.

Shnikies i'm being interviewed!!! (Q&A)

You can ask anyone who knows me and they'll tell you that food and I have a very special relationship. (wow) But yea, I love food, so I'll eat pretty much anything. If it swims, clucks, oinks or moos, I'll eat it. I like to look at TV, while I don't think I watch TV that much some people (i.e. my parents) might say other wise. I really love cartoons. (jeez, I'm about to be 18 in four months huh?) Old ones new ones, cartoons for older people. (Simpson's, Family Guy etc.) But I rather read a good book and listen to my ipod. (I'm finishing up The Road by Cormac McCarthy).
On the subject of entertainment I must say that I don't view music as entertainment like other people may. Personally I think music is an religion. I love music very much I feel as if I'm nothing without it. My family can tell you I always have my ipod with me and tent to tune out everything else. I can listen to music for hours. If I had to choose between my TV and my ipod, I'd pick my ipod. I used to be in chior for 5th to 8th grade. I can't really tell you why I stopped singing, i'm not sure myself really. But I love to write and the bulk of my writing are songs. The one thing I got out of chior was how relaxing/ soothing singing is and I also know how to read sheet music. I realize that to a lot of people it would just be a peice of paper with a bunch of music notes. But to me it's a whole lot more.
Anyways, sorry about the story. Since I love to write so much my favorite subject would have to be English. It's one of my strongest subjects and I'm recognized for it more than my other subjects. I also really enjoy history class, I don't see why people wouldn't. Like many other students, I ABSOLUTELY HATE MATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate to say that I in fact don't study for test I just do it, and I normally make a good grade on the test. (I don't know how that works but it does.)
I chose to take this class because I know so many people ion bands and I figured that this class could show me how to market them. Not to mention that I hope to work at a record label or own my own label. I think when working in a group/team it's important to know where each member is comfortable. Do they prefer to type up information, draw, or speak in public? I think I make a great team member, I'm not countroling nor do I boss people around. If anything i'm the main person ask others what should we do and if I create something, make sure that they agree with it or are there wways to make it better.

Like we need more energy drinks?

My team and I will be making up a mock billboard for energy drinks. When we got our assignment to chose a product to market, we immediately picked energy drinks. Who doesn't like a good energy drink right?

Wahoo's Fish Taco

So here's the thing, I'm Mexcian and I've never had a fish taco in my life and now I really want one. To be more specific I really want one from Wahoo's Fish Taco. But to be more on the business side of things I love how these guys market to people who have actually heard of a fish taco before. I think if other business market the way Wahoo's did the be twice as more successful as they are or arent right now. Wahoo's targets people who live the "laid back" life. Surfers just want to relax with their friends and surf and that's who the market to. Wahoo's defines marketing by taking risks and not always worrying about how much money they need to make or want to make. Of you worry about how much you want to make then you might wind up not making any money at all. Paceing yourself and your business is the way to go. It's kind of a "I'l help you if you help me" thing. I'll promote you if you do the same for me. They also define the marketing mix by supplying a quality product (which would be food in this case. Who doesn't like food?) They distibute to people who would like the food most, health councious, althletic people. They make good marketing choices.

The Vans Warped Tour/ Music Saves Lives

It's the 8th day in the new year so I haven't had a chance to really figure out what I wanted to do for the year. I usually figure this love piece of information at the last minute. I woke up from my nap and thought "I'm about to enter my final semester of high school" and freaked out. I layed in my bed staring at my ceiling and thought about Warped Tour. This is a rolling music festival that my friend and I usually go to every year. We started going when we were 15 (that was in '05) and kept going ever since. It's really the only time I get to spend time with my best friend, I've known her since 6th grade. Anyway, a couple if months I had a thought and decided I wanted to help out. Got reply saying yes, but i don't know if it four the whole tour or not. I guess we'll just have to find out.......

Sports and Entertainment Marketing

What i hope to learn from Sports and Entertainment Marketing is how to promote Musician, I know this class has some correlation to it. After college I hope to have my own record label because I have a devine love for music and I love doing things that are related to music or film or entertainment for that matter so I chose this class. I'll be going to U of H in after I graduate and will be taking a business class. S&E Marketing is not the only Business related class I have taken in my years of high school so I know a little bit about it and should go in to college knowing a few things. I thought this class would be a good start for me, because I can put that I have taken business classes and increase my chances at getting a really good job.
On the other hand, I also picked this class becasuse I thought it would be fun and exciting. I love working on computers and prefer it. I can work on my computer skills as well as my skills in the entertainment business. I'm looking forward to all the things I will be learning in this class and hope to close out my high school career with more knowledge in Sports & Entertainment Marketing.
